City Of Sheffield Pipe Band – Founded 1908

City of Sheffield Pipe Band

The band is under the direction and leadership of Pipe Major Keith Arnott and Drum Major Dave White and continues to offer an excellent programme of instruction in piping and drumming from novice level and upwards.

The members of the band mainly live in the Yorkshire/Derbyshire area and some travel from even further afield as Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire – such is the enthusiasm. The band welcomes visiting players of all levels and offers a particularly warm welcome to children, young people and student players from abroad during their time in the UK.

Bakewell Carnival

The band had a new tartan designed in 2003 with the help of Strathmore Woollen Mill, Scotland. This new tartan is known as “The City of Sheffield” tartan.

Resplendent in our tartan the band provides a stirring spectacle whilst playing on the march or in a circle. The selection of music includes slow and quick marches, moving airs, strathspeys and reels.

The band performs at community events, charitable functions, and parades including Remembrance Day every year.

  1. Just wanted to introduce myself, Dave Thomas. I’m the Secretary of the Nottingham RAA, we’ve just had it confirmed we are able to lay a wreath at the Menin Gate on the 16th June next year. Looking to meeting you guys there.
